Gunmen stormed a military post in Afghanistan, killing seven and wounding several.
According to details, a military check post in Balkh province of Afghanistan was attacked by Taliban fighters. The attack was so sudden that the military personnel did not get a chance to recover but the military personnel also showed resistance.
Sources said the two-way clash lasted for an hour during which seven Afghan soldiers were killed and more than 10 were injured.
The sources added that the attackers also took government weapons and an Afghan army vehicle with them after the operation.
A spokesman for the governor of Balkh province said in a statement that military personnel showed strong resistance to the Taliban attack, killing five militants in retaliation, including the Taliban’s self-styled deputy governor of Chahar Bolak district.
