The new strain of the global pandemic corona virus has been declared more than twice as contagious in Brazil as the old strains.
According to medical research, this new type of corona virus called P1 is 2.2 times more contagious.
Keep in mind that this type of code can reduce the immunity of people who get sick by up to 61%.
The study found that P1 cases of corona virus increased in the Brazilian city of Minneapolis, where a second wave of epidemics broke out in late 2020.
During the study, genetic sequences of the virus were made from samples of people infected with the corona virus in the city from November 2020 to January 2021.
He said that the results of this Brazilian city could not be applied to other places but it was necessary to examine the extent to which it could spread to other places.
In this regard, the researchers found that the rate of such samples increased from zero to 87% in 7 weeks.
They identified 17 mutations in the new strain, 10 of which occurred on the surface of the spike protein, which the virus uses to enter human cells.
The 3 mutations in the spike protein helped this new type to bind to human cells more effectively.
However, a mutation N501Y was also observed in species discovered in the UK and South Africa.
Another mutation was that of E484, which helps the virus reverse its current immune response.
The researchers looked at the changes and examined the effects of the virus on its ability to infect humans.
They developed models from the data that showed the corona virus to be 1.4 to 2.2 times more contagious than the original strain as well as other strains.
In the same way, this type can reduce the immunity rate of people infected with the old types by 25 to 65%, which increases the risk of second-time cod in people.
The researchers said that the results indicate that much has changed in P1, which is a cause for concern.
